The facilities include a range of digital and conventional fabrication technologies. 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC milling machines and cutting plotters can be used to produce components, models, sensors and prototypes, for example. The equipment is complemented by traditional tools and facilities for working with electronics. In this way, the Green FabLab combines computer-aided design and fabrication with hands-on experimentation.
A particular focus is on combining technology and sustainability. At the Green FabLab and its adjoining garden, topics such as renewable energy, biodiversity, urban gardening, biological resources and environmental monitoring can be explored in practice. Projects address areas including photovoltaics and wind energy, hydrogen, sustainable water use, green spaces and the ecological enhancement of bodies of water.
In addition, the Green FabLab provides a space for interdisciplinary learning, research and knowledge transfer. Students, schools and other partners can explore digital fabrication technologies and discover their potential for the environment and society.
