Dr. Jan Niklas Rolf

Jan Niklas Rolf wurde am Niederrhein geboren. Seinem Bachelorstudium der Politikwissenschaft und Volkswirtschaftslehre an der RWTH Aachen schloss er ein Master- und Promotionsstudium der Internationalen Beziehungen an der University of London an. Nach seiner Doktorarbeit zur domestischen Analogie, in der er die normativen Grundlagen von globalen Ordnungs- und Gerechtigkeitstheorien untersucht, widmete er sich deren praktischen Implikationen. Seine Forschung zur Entwicklungs- und Sicherheitspolitik sowie anderen aktuellen Themen der (internationalen) Politik hat er in anerkannten Fachzeitschriften, Sammelbänden und Monographien publiziert.

Jan Niklas Rolf arbeitete als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der FernUniversität in Hagen und der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. Zudem war er als Gastdozent an mehreren Universitäten im In- und Ausland tätig. Seit 2023 ist er am Kompetenzzentrum für Gesellschaftliche Transformationen (ccst) an der Hochschule Rhein-Waal beschäftigt. Er ist Mitherausgeber der Zeitschrift Political Science Applied, Co-Autor der Bücher Kultur in den internationalen Beziehungen (Springer VS, 2018) und Parteianhängerschaft in Deutschland (Springer VS, 2023), Autor des Buchs Hobbes and Rawls on European integration: A contractarian perspective (Palgrave MacMillan, 2025) sowie Mitherausgeber des Sammelbands Non-EU Europe (Springer Nature, 2026). Im Jahr 2018 gewann er den Lehrpreis der Hochschule Rhein-Waal.
