Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Society and Economics confirmed for another 4 years

The Dean and Vice-Deans of the Faculty of Society and Economics are elected for four years from among the members of the Faculty Council, consisting of representatives of all status groups and students. The elections for the term of office starting in March 2023 took place at the last Faculty Council meetings. All previous office holders were confirmed in office through re-election.

On 9 November 2022, Prof. Dr. Ralf Klapdor was elected Dean of the Faculty, who will begin a new four-year term of office on 1 March 2023. Prof. Dr. Ralf Klapdor has been a professor of business administration with a focus on international taxation at the Faculty of Society and Economics since 1 October 2010, and before taking office as dean, he had already served as vice dean and chair of the examination board. After his tax advisor examination in 1999 and his doctorate on European tax law in 2000, he worked in international tax consultancy before being appointed to his first professorship in 2006. The economist is also a member of the examination board for the auditor's examination.

The election of the vice deans took place at the Faculty Council meeting on 14 December 2022. Here, too, the officers were confirmed in office by the Faculty Council:

As Vice Dean of Research and Transfer, Prof. Dr. habil. Ute Merbecks was confirmed in office. She has been teaching at the Faculty of Society and Economics in the area of general business administration with a focus on corporate finance since 2015. Prof. Dr. habil. Ute Merbecks is a member of the research focus "Food Systems" at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and heads the stock market laboratory "Markets and Risk Experiments". Previously, she was Professor of Finance and Accounting at the EBC University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf and held the Chair of Controlling at the University of Siegen. In 2012, she successfully completed her habilitation at the FernUniversität in Hagen and received the venia legendi for business administration.

Prof. Dr Helmut Prior was confirmed as Dean of Studies. He has been a Professor of Childhood Education and Prevention at the Faculty of Society and Economics since 2014. He has a degree in education and a habilitation in psychology, worked in research, teaching and academic self-administration at the universities of Münster, Oxford, Bochum, Frankfurt am Main and Düsseldorf, as well as at the Business and Information Technology School in Iserlohn.

The Vice Dean of International Affairs is Prof. Dr. Philipp Schorn, who has been working at the Faculty of Society and Economics as a professor of business administration with a focus on accounting and auditing since 2011 and has been the head of the International Business and Management, B.A. programme for many years. In addition to his professorship, he regularly acts as an expert for accreditation procedures and is a freelance lecturer and consultant for international accounting. Before his appointment at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, he worked as a consultant at PwC AG in Düsseldorf. In 2009, he successfully completed his doctorate in business administration at the University of Bern.

The team is completed by Dipl. Kauffr. Sandra Gardian, who has been competently handling the Faculty's processes as Faculty Manager since February 2014 and previously worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Society and Economics for two years.
