Working to save the world - a career in the NGO sector.  A dream come true?

Scientists have revealed that one of the most effective ways to increase personal happiness is working for a charity, social enterprise or other not-for-profit organisations. On average, people working for the so called Third Sector are much more satisfied than their peers in the private sector. But what are the pros and cons of working for an NGO and how do you get into this sector? Our guest speaker Mareike Britten will lead the audience through her career working for small civil society organisations to big international NGOs. Now working as consultant, facilitator and trainer she supports NGOs such as Amnesty International, Oxfam, Greenpeace  and others in their campaign strategy and organisational development. She will describe how she got into the sector, how important networks are and the changing role women play in shaping it, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
