Open Campus and Anniversary Celebration
in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort
Open Campus Day is a chance for us to invite members of the public, potential future students, current students, alumni and representatives of industry to visit Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences at our two campus locations in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort. It is a glimpse behind the curtains of our university and a chance for you to tour our auditoriums, classrooms, laboratories and library, to participate in interesting activities and even learn more about ongoing research, projects and study opportunities. Get to know our teachers, students and other staff as well.
Each Open Campus Day will have its own Saturday (Kleve: 25 May 2019 – Kamp-Lintfort: 15 June 2019) so visitors have the opportunity to explore the offers and services of both locations.
10 Year Anniversary
2019 marks the 10 year anniversary of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. To celebrate our 10th birthday in style, we’re organising two-day festivals for each campus. The festivities will take place on the same weekends as Open Campus Day and feature live music and an exciting show programme dedicated to Rhine-Waal University’s anniversary theme “Rooted in the Region, Networked with the World”. Celebrations will kick off on Friday evening with acrobatics, live bands and DJs. Then Saturday will begin with Open Campus Day – featuring interesting events, talks and presentations – as well as a bonus anniversary programme for families. Open Campus Day will wrap up in the afternoon, but the afterparty will continue well into the evening hours. Daniel Danger will be moderating both events. You might recognize the popular radio journalist from his many “dangerous missions” for 1LIVE. His mission for our Open Campus Day and anniversary celebration: to entertain our guests with wit and humour!
Special Events in Kleve – 25th May 2019
Swan Knight Race
Our traditional Swan Knight Race (Schwanenritter Race) will take place again this year on the Spoy canal. Twelve teams will compete head to head in a fierce boat race. The catch? Teams have to build their boats from scratch! Each team is given the same materials and amount of time to design, build and finally race their own hand-constructed boats. Glory and great prizes await the winners! Click here to enter the registration portal (in German).
Tropical Greenhouse opens its doors
As part of Open Gardens in Kleverland Day slated for the 25th of May, our state of the art Tropical Greenhouse in Kleve will also be opening its doors to visitors and offering a look at the diversity of plants found in the tropics and temperate latitudes. With 315 square metres under glass (research and tropics chambers) and 1,598 square metres of open-air space (gardens, the “Living Blackboard” and orchard meadow with barefoot nature trail and bee colonies), visitors can experience biodiversity with all five senses.
Special Wednesday Academy ("Mittwochsakademie") Date
Rhine-Waal University’s lecture series Wednesday Academy ("Mittwochsakademie") will be holding an additional talk during Open Campus Day entitled “Master of Time”. With a special focus on how we perceive time – both culturally and internally – the speaker will explore the question of what time is, how we handle it and how it handles us. The lecture will be held in German.
