Career Talks and Workshops "Clever Networking" ("Clever Netzwerken") for women
This year and next year, the Career Service and the ZFIT will be organizing several Career Talks and Workshops called "Clever Networking - strategic networking for women" ("Clever Netzwerken - Strategisches Netzwerken für Frauen") for female scientific and student members of the HSRW.

Kids' Uni at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences
Kids' Uni is a programme at Rhine-Waal University which gives kids between 8 and 12 the chance to take part in ‘university lectures’ created just for them. Just like real students, they will get student passes, sit in lecture halls and have the chance to pester real professors with all the questions they can think of. Lectures are held in german.

Girls' and Boys' Day at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences
The next date for Girls' Day und Boys' Day will be on April 26, 2018.
Girls' Day and Boys' Day is a chance for boys and girls to learn more about careers that are traditionally “un-typical” for their gender. Girls, for example, can learn more about engineering and natural sciences, while boys can explore fields usually dominated by women, such teaching or elderly care. The long-term goal of this initiative is to spark the interest of school-aged children in alternative careers from an early age. It’s also a chance to re-examine gender roles in society and get initial impressions of the labour world for children.

Extension of the Maternity Protection Act
On March 30, 2017 the German Bundestag passed the envisaged law on the extension of the maternity protection, which now includes students. According to the leave, female students get the opportunity to apply for exemptions from compulsory examinations or internships, without suffering disadvantages. The amendment also includes the abolition of prohibitions against the will of pregnant women, a more intensive participation in the organization of working hours, the extension of maternity protection for mothers of children with disabilities and dismissal protection for women suffering from miscarriage. “Career Paths to the FH-Professorship” Programme
The program “Career Paths to the FH-Professorship” supports qualified newcomers on their way to the FH professorship. The aim is to make even better use of the potential of well-qualified women. In essence, the program revolves around the professional experience gained outside of the teaching institution required for a professorship.
Participants can combine professional experience from outside of the university area, as well as teaching and research experiences in the context of the university, over a period of three years. Therefore they are working simultaneously at a program-leading university and as well at an external company.
The program is designed for a three-years funding phase with up to 80 participants. Universities which wish to participate in the program may submit their applications in 2017. More information is available here.
Gender Report 2016
The gender equality report is being presented by the Coordination and Research Center of the Network of Women and Gender Research NRW, and is published in a three-years cycle. The report includes three current partial studies on gender equality at universities in NRW: the analysis of university statistics with main emphasis on NRW (Part A), practices for equality at universities in NRW (Part B), and a study on a changing focal theme (Part C), this time “Gender Gap in Higher Education”. 5th Call for Proposals
In 2017, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences provides financial resources for innovative gender equality projects in the faculties and organizational departments of the university aiming at the integration of women’s talents and potentials in the scientific system.
Applications have to be submitted through the dean’s office or the respective management offices of the organizational departments and handed in in hard copy. Additionally, an electronic version in pdf format should be submitted via email (firstname.lastname@example.org).

Qualification Programme "mentoring³"
With mentoring³ the University alliance Ruhr offers a qualification programme for young female scientists, as well as for postgraduates and doctoral students. Its aim is to strengthen the potential and competences of the highly qualified young female researchers, to promote active career planning and to prepare for management tasks. In October 2017, the program line for postdoctoral researchers starts for the time period of 2 years. Application deadline: July 20, 2017. More information can be found here.
STEM Girl`s Summer School
From 21 to 25 August, the faculty of Technology and Bionics of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences will offer a 5-day adventure camp for female pupils aged 14 and up.
- mathematics, physics, chemistry, robotics, bionics, 3D-pressure, mechanics, electronics
- working on projects with the help of tutors, scientific workers and professors
- insight into the STEM programmes and potential professional application fields

Career Fair “herCAREER”
“herCAREER” is the extensive career fair for graduates, women in specialist and management positions as well as business start-ups. It will take place in Munich’s MTC on October 12 and 13, 2017.
Thematically, the fair is divided into the following areas:
- attractive employers
- further education
- offers for a better reconciliation of family, care and profession
- offers for business start-ups as well as for entrepreneurs
- networks, associations, organizations, institutions, ministries, etc.
