Lena Gutheil studied Cultural Anthropology and Political Science in Mainz and Utrecht. During her studies she focused on political anthropology, the anthropology of development, gender and post-colonial studies in Africa and the Middle East. After graduation she worked for the German technical cooperation agency (GIZ) in a higher education project in Germany and Ethiopia. Before joining the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in March 2016, she supported the E-learning department of the United Nations University in Bonn as a project associate. Lena Gutheil is currently a PhD candidate at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. Her dissertation project deals with the operationalization of project management frameworks in foreign aid.
