  • You will add a new international dimension to your undergraduate degree.

  • You will expand your horizons, gain deeper insight into other cultures, and strengthen your intercultural skills.
  • You will learn to speak with more confidence and conviction: effective communication will become a key strength.
  • You will improve your proficiency in foreign languages, both in technical areas (several to choose from in English) as well as your general proficiency in other languages (English, German as a Foreign Language, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and more).
  • You will develop your ability to tackle business issues with an international approach (as opposed to strictly national or regional). 
  • You will gain deeper insight into international economies and commerce, as well as real-world international practices in select corporate fields. You will practice applying this new insight through the analysis of case studies.

What are the learning objectives of a specialisation in International Perspectives and Intercultural Communication?

A specialisation in International Perspectives and Intercultural Communication will help prepare you for a career in an international environment and/or at an internationally-active company. You will acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in the global economy and international trade. An additional emphasis is put on improving your proficiency in foreign languages: in addition to advanced modules in English, you will also being learning a new language or improving your existing proficiency, while also strengthening your intercultural competence. A specialisation in International Perspectives and Intercultural Communication is the right choice if you would like to pursue a career in an internationally-active company or are planning your own startup that you would eventually like to introduce to the international marketplace.

What do modules in this specialisation entail? 

  • Fundamentals of the global economy, international trade and/or internationalisation as a corporate strategy
  • Fundamentals of (intercultural) communication
  • Practice-oriented exploration of internationalisation practices in select corporate areas
  • Deeper economic insight into a cultural region of your choosing
  • Acquiring and improving foreign language proficiency (English and an additional language of your choosing)

A total of 5 modules selected from 4 areas must be successfully completed to earn a certificate of specialisation. Note that you cannot select modules that you have already passed during your undergraduate studies.
