One-on-one cultural and linguistic exchange
Language learning with a partner
A language tandem is a great way for intermediate and advanced learners to practice their language outside of the classroom. In a tandem you pair up with a native speaker of the language you’re learning and in exchange offer to ‘teach’ your own native language to your partner. Both partners can benefit from each other’s native language skills in a tandem.
To register for an official language tandem and find a partner, please ask the Welcome Center. If you weren’t able to find a partner, please visit one of the International Center’s drop-in sessions.
In winter semester 2015-16 the International Center has begun offering drop-in sessions. During drop-in sessions, tandem pairs can loan out top-quality lesson materials from the Seagull Language Exchange to practice specific language topics.
If you couldn’t find a German tandem partner through the Welcome Centre, you can also come to a drop-in session and the International Center will try to find an individual tandem solution for you.
