During the 2018/2019 academic year I was awarded the "Germany Scholarship" - Deutschlandstipendium - for a second consecutive year. This made it possible for me not to work at all and to concentrate only on my studies, and to focus on my goal - finishing my degree within the scheduled time frame of seven semesters. Indeed I managed to pass all of my subjects in the corresponding semesters with very high grades and I have completed my mandatory semester abroad at the well-established Radboud University in the city of Nijmegen, Netherlands. And right now I have started working on my Bachelor’s thesis.

Receiving the scholarship has been essential for my high grades and appropriate advancement through the semesters. The scholarship has also, in a sense, greatly improved my mental health, as I did not need to worry about the necessities required for my physical survival. In fact, the Deutschlandstipendium has made it much easier to realize my dreams and to strive towards them with much more stable footsteps. After finishing my current degree I would like to complete a master’s program, which will enhance my B.Sc. Bioengineering degree, but also will be intertwined with business study courses. I hope to obtain the necessary knowledge to establish, sustain and grow a business in biotechnology or other related fields.

When I first came to Germany to study, I knew it was not going to be easy. The first year I was working up to 80 hours a month in order to support myself. Then I heard about the Deutschlandstipendium. I applied and I was one of the lucky few who were selected. Receiving Deutschlandstipendium has literally changed my life. I want to thank the German government, who has taken this initiative, and all the companies who support this program. Deutschlandstipendium turns dreams into reality!

When I read that I have been chosen for the Deutschlandstipendium again, I felt very relieved and happy. It offers me a great support to concentrate even more on studying.

At the second dinner I already knew the Lions Club Moers. It was a nice dinner with great conversations. The atmosphere was relaxed. I met many people from different study courses and received my scholarship certificate.

The Lions Club Moers is an organization consisting of volunteers organizing many events and supporting indigent people. They invited me to another dinner in Moers with some of their active members, which was a great evening, as well. The people I met there were very interested in me. I told them a lot about me and my course of study while they talked a lot about their experiences in the working and business world.

I am very glad that I enrolled in the course Bioscience and Health, as it is exactly what I am interested in and what I see myself working with later. Currently I am in the fifth semester and I am looking forward to the last year at Rhine-Waal University. In the past years I became more open towards new people and more self-confident.

All in all, I am very grateful to be part of this programme and I hope that many more students can benefit from this in the future. It is a great opportunity to find new connections and concentrate on the academic career.

Thanks to the Lions Club for encouraging and supporting me!

I am very grateful for having been awarded the Deutschlandstipendium. The year in which I received the scholarship has not only enabled me to grow personally, it has also given me the chance to further my professional life.

For me, the Deutschlandstipendium has served two purposes; the first being the non-financial aspect. After being notified that I would be a recipient of the scholarship, I sent my donor, the Wesel based laser measuring Technology Company LASE GmbH, an e-mail in which I introduced myself. This way, my donating company and I got to know each other at the very start of the funding period. Throughout the duration of the scholarship I held close contact with the company and decided to do an internship there during my semester break. The company was very open and I was tasked with a very interesting as well as demanding project. I felt as accepted as all other employees of LASE GmbH. Furthermore, I participated in a company visit to the duisport - Duisburger Hafen AG. I am very happy that I have made these experiences.

On the other hand, I also enjoyed a lot of freedom due to the financial support. I was able to move to Kamp-Lintfort, participate in the student life and actively contribute to events going on in the university. In this way, the scholarship enabled me to focus on my studies without having to stress about financial issues. Additionally, through the financial support, I felt very much appreciated by the university, which further increased my motivation to study and finish my degree in time.

I am very thankful that I had the opportunities associated with the scholarship. It was so much more than the financial support I received. The accompanying programme and the people I met enabled me to develop and make the most of the time.

I was awarded the Deutschlandstipendium for 2018/2019 due to my academic progress and extra-curricular engagements. Obviously, this scholarship has given me the chance to improve myself in two ways; academically and in non-technical engagements.

Academically:
At the time when I applied for the Germany Scholarship 2018/2019, I was in my 4th semester, I had 80 credit points (CP) and a grade point average (GPA) of 1.4. At the end of the scholarship period, which is my 6th Semester, my GPA is still the same but with an increment of total CP to 147. This shows how the scholarship helped me to maintain the focus on my studies. Furthermore, I was also able to get an internship, which lasted from 1st March 2019 till 18th July 2019 at Krone AG.

Extra-curricular:
During the summer semester 2018 and winter semester 2018/2019, I worked as a tutor for two subjects: Power Electronics and Drives and Thermodynamics. My main task was to conduct the tutorial to help as many students as possible to pass their exam with a good grade. From each professor I received a letter of recommendation at the end of my employment, which proves my independent and reliable way of working as well as the complete satisfaction of my professors. This is also great evidence that shows how the Germany Scholarship spared me the effort and time to focus on other activities related to my field of study instead of having to do irrelevant side jobs to afford the living costs.

During my last two semesters I had the pleasure of being part of the German scholarship programme, a pleasure that made me feel very happy as well as honoured. As students, we all know the struggle of working besides our studies. Through the monetary support of the scholarship I could do a job I liked, pursuing my preferences instead of the monetary remuneration. I could also work fewer hours than I otherwise would have had to, thereby having more time for myself, my studies and my friends. All in all, looking back at the past semesters, I look back at full weekends and on a full diary. I learned a lot during my courses, at extra-curricular activities, as well as with and from other students and friends. Growing in the international environment of our university and participating in student projects, I am happy to have studied these last semesters at Rhine-Waal University. Even though it was not possible for me to meet my sponsor personally, I got to know other scholarship holders and could exchange experiences with them. It is a great feeling to be valued for the work at university, as well as for social commitment and I am thankful to all sponsors that enable this programme making our student life easier.

Sparkasse Duisburg

Thanks to the Deutschlandstipendium, my academic everyday life has not really changed. I was able to maintain my job as a student assistant at our university. Moreover, I was re-elected a member of the Student Parliament and stayed an active volunteer at the local group of ArbeiterKind.de. Due to my internship in Sindelfingen from February to July, I spent a lot of time outside the university. However, I remained in touch with my contacts at Sparkasse Duisburg throughout the whole year. I was entrusted with the evaluation of the apprentices' assessment center which I was working on aside of my internship. This project allowed me to transfer theoretical knowledge to application by working conceptionally on a real case. The final review and debriefing of this project are planned for February 2020, as I am writing my Bachelor’s thesis at the moment. All in all, the cooperation with Sparkasse Duisburg was, once again, very informative considering both personal and educational growth. I really enjoyed the time I spent working with Sparkasse Duisburg as to both, the working and personal level. I am very thankful for the amazing time I have experienced so far and I am very much looking forward to the upcoming meetings with my contacts.

I would like to start by thanking Rhine-Waal University and my sponsor Sparkasse.

I have been selected and awarded this prestigious scholarship for the third time in a row. For the past two years, I have been honoured to receive this recognition and financial award. The moment I had received the e-mail congratulating me for being selected, I felt like being on the top of the world. It was a proof to myself, my fellow peers and future employers that I am a hard-working person and that hard work does not go unrecognized.

This recognition was motivation on its own to keep on working and at the same time, the award has released much of my time to pursue self-improving activities.

Through Deutschlandstipendium I have met many like-minded students as well as companies from the sponsors which proved to be a major boost for my future career.

Finally, I would like to thank all the sponsors for their generosity, advice and their support to all of us, and the selection team for taking the time to recognize those who excel and put in the effort to try and make something of themselves.

I applied for the scholarship with my high school degree. I am certain that many students do not even know that this is possible. For me, it was a great opportunity to be rewarded for the hard work that I had put into my A-levels. It also gave me time to start the first semester more focused and relaxed, because I did not have to worry about finding a job.

The year started with a fantastic scholarship dinner, where we had the chance to meet other scholarship holders and more importantly the donor organizations. I felt much appreciated as a student. Moreover, I want to confirm that becoming a scholarship holder at this University made me even more ambitious and motivated towards my studies. As a result, I had the chance to commit fully to my exams and it helped me to keep my level of performance.

Furthermore, I spent my time to do something good and help others. I became a member of the Leo Club Kleverland. We organized events for children's homes and collected donations together. For instance, we donated money to families who are not able to buy their children Christmas presents.

The scholarship holders supported by my personal donor "RAG-Stiftung" all got invited to an event in July 2019 to get to know the organization and other students. Unfortunately, I could not participate, because it was during my examination period.

I am really thankful and appreciative for an amazing time and I am looking forward to the new experiences of the upcoming year.

Horlemann Automation & IT GmbH

First of all, I want to thank my sponsor Horlemann Automation & IT GmbH and the university for selecting me as a scholarship holder of the Deutschlandstipendium. It makes me very proud to be part of that favored few.

Since it was my first year of being a scholarship holder, I did not know what to expect from the Deutschlandstipendium. But this year with the scholarship turned out to be an outstanding year with newly established contacts and enriching experiences.

The Deutschlandstipendium offers great opportunities to network, both with other scholarship holders as well as with different sponsors.

For me, the Deutschlandstipendium is a major connector of a melting pot of many different students, which leads to a community feeling that is outstanding.

My sponsor Horlemann Automation & IT GmbH turned out to be a great match as I was able to take the opportunity of doing an internship at their facilities in Uedem. It was a valuable experience since they gave me fascinating insights to their business practices.

Besides the networking experiences, the financial support allowed me to focus on my studies and pursue my academic and professional goals. This also contributed positively to my personal development as all the support gave me a lot of self-confidence for my studies.

The Scholarship Dinner was a great happening and an outstanding chance to network with all sponsors. The pleasant atmosphere made getting to know my sponsor easier and very valuable.

I am already looking forward to the second year of being part of the Deutschlandstipendium.

First of all, I want to say that I am very grateful and honoured to be one of the holders of the Deutschlandstipendium. I want to use this opportunity to thank my donor, the RAG-Stiftung, and everyone who was involved in the organization of the Deutschlandstipendium during the previous year. When I learned that I was one of the few students, who have been chosen as scholarship holders, I felt overwhelmed!

For the last year, the financial support of the Deutschlandstipendium in combination with my job as a student assistant at Rheine-Waal University enabled me to study without thinking of how to cover my living expenses. This was a great relief and it allowed me to focus on my studies. Besides, it is not only a great recognition of what I have achieved in my studies so far but also a motivation to continue to work hard. For me, it is a confirmation that I made the right decision when starting to study International Relations after successfully having completed an apprenticeship in a company.

The year started with the Scholarship Dinner in Kamp-Lintfort, where we received our scholarship certificates and met our sponsors. Although I could not meet my sponsor on this day, I had the chance to get to know a lot of people and the evening was filled with interesting discussions. The possibility of networking is an excellent opportunity provided by the scholarship. In addition to this, there is also the chance to participate in interesting company visits. Overall, the Deutschlandstipendium is far more than just a financial support and I am very proud to belong to the group of scholarship holders!

ALTANA AG

First and foremost, I would like to thank the ALTANA AG for a great year with many unique experiences.

My highlight was the gathering ALTANA organized for all its scholarship holders. After getting to know each other, we had an extensive bike tour together. While exploring Wesel, we had to complete numerous tasks in order to solve a riddle. Later we created a three-course menu at the cooking school Trüffel & Bohne. The evening ended with a nice get-together at the hotel bar. On the second day, we went to the ALTANA headquarters. Once again, the catering was very delicious. The cafeteria at my Uni is great but it cannot compete with ALTANA's. Afterwards, we had a tour around the laboratories and production site. For both chemists and non-chemists this was an exciting experience with several “aha”-moments. Questions such as "Should you lick the yoghurt lid or not?" were also discussed extensively. At the end we exchanged contact data to keep in touch. All in all, the two days were a very nice opportunity to get to know ALTANA, our mentors and other scholarship holders.

Furthermore, I had the chance to visit ALTANA's Environment, Health and Safety department and got many interesting insights into the work of my mentor, Anja Fisch. Everybody was very welcoming.

The ALTANA AG even sent me a birthday and a christmas card as well as their company magazine "Faces", in which all of the scholarship holders where included in an article.

Apart from everything the ALTANA AG organized, the scholarship allowed me to participate e.g. in the scholarship dinner, a cruise through Duisburg's logports, and network with many fascinating people.

All in all, I am very grateful and it fills me with pride to be part of the Deutschlandstipendium.

ALTANA AG

In 2018, I received the Germany Scholarship for the first time. That was really exciting for me, not only because of the financial support, but especially due to the opportunity to network with my scholarship donor. ALTANA is a company in the field of special chemistry, which at first does not seem to be that fitting for someone studying psychology. But Andrea Pfister, who in fact works in the personnel department of the company and was ALTANA's representative at the scholarship dinner, told us a lot about the diverse topics in this department. She also mentioned that ALTANA is always looking for new interns for the personnel department. This was really interesting for me, since I was looking for an internship at that time and I actually ended up getting one in the personnel department of BYK-Chemie GmbH, one of ALTANA's subsidiaries. But the scholarship did not only help me to find an internship, there were even more opportunities to network with my scholarship donor. Every year ALTANA organizes a really cool event for all the scholarship holders. This year we all went on a long bike ride while solving riddles and doing fun tasks along the way. After that we were able to improve our cooking skills during a cooking class and we got an inside look into the company on the next day. These two days were really exciting because we did not only get the chance to learn more about our scholarship donor, but we, as scholarship holders from all over Germany, were also able to connect with each other. I am still in touch with some of the people I met there. Overall I am very thankful that the Germany Scholarship and ALTANA gave me so many opportunities.

The Deutschlandstipendium this year was remarkable in so many ways for me. In this article, I will begin by highlighting some important points on how the scholarship has helped me, then I will conclude with a thank you message to all those who made it possible. So, firstly, the Deutschlandstipendium helped me a lot financially as I can now focus more on my studies. Moreover, I really liked the theme of this year's scholarship event, which was networking. It gave me the chance to meet a few company directors and to practice my networking skills. This provided me with the opportunity to find an internship, which I think was really a great advantage for me. The event also provided a kind of language tandem for me as I was able to practice my German language more during the three hours of the event. To conclude, I would like to say THANK YOU to all the companies, especially my scholarship donor LASE Industrielle Lasertechnik GmbH, that were able to allocate not only budget to help future engineers achieve their goals, but also time to come to the University and network with us. Also, a special THANK YOU to all the University staff members that made this possible for me, as I believe it was a very difficult job to select 79 students out of 302 applicants.

In 2018, I finished my bachelor’s degree and started my master’s programme. That was a huge challenge for me because the modules are taught in English language. In the beginning, I was not sure how to handle this challenge, especially since I have to look after my family with three children.

The past semester was occupied by my second research project in my Biological Resources studies. It has been one of the highlights of my academic studies. Working on descriptions of population dynamics led me into another scope of research and allowed me to join a conference on Mathematical Models in Ecology and Evolution 2019 in Lyon, France. What is more, I was glad for being able to present my first poster there. That has been a great, exciting, and instructive experience for me. Over the year, I had the possibility to be a student assistant in biology and ecology, a field that meets my personal interests beside the chance to extend my knowledge and skills. In the scholarship year 2018/2019 I passed all remaining lecture series and started to work on my thesis.

Once again I want to express my thanks to my scholarship provider Unternehmerverband der Metallindustrie Ruhe-Niederrhein e.V. I obtained financial benefit, ethical support and networking opportunities. Besides that, the sponsors published my background in newspapers and social media. I received very positive feedback. Two women at least have been encouraged to study because of me being a role model to them. I feel especially delighted about that. A wonderful surplus value to all the worthwhile benefits I received by the Deutschlandstipendium.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone involved in the organization of the Deutschlandstipendium for offering us students this support and opportunity. I am very grateful for having the chance to receive the scholarship.

Not worrying about living expenses while studying is a prime motivator for many students. But an equally important aspect is making new contacts with people in the local industry. The scholarship made both things possible for me.

I enjoyed the Scholarship Dinner that took place shortly after the start of the new winter term. At the celebration on the Campus Kamp-Lintfort, we received our awards and had a pleasant dinner with our donors and fellow scholarship winners. The atmosphere was lively and communicative. I got to know many friendly people and I was able to make new contacts with possible future employers from the Lower-Rhine region.

Currently, I am in the seventh semester and I am looking forward to finish my bachelor’s thesis. During the funding period, I could spend all my energy on my last exams and was able to successfully complete these ones as well. Afterwards, I started my internship and the scholarship allowed me to choose the internship that I wanted, independently from receiving money for it or not.

All in all, I am very happy and grateful to have been part of the scholarship programme and again I want to say: Thanks to ForFarmers for supporting me!

During the funding phase, I wrote my bachelor's thesis in cooperation with the international human rights organization Society for Threatened Peoples. During the course of my internship, I was allowed to write and publish an article about the topic of my thesis in the organization's journal Progrom-Bedrohte Völker.

After submitting my bachelor's thesis, I completed an internship at the Goethe Institute in Santiago de Chile. One of my main tasks was the preparation of the Goethe-Institute's contribution to the COP 25, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which was originally intended to take place in Santiago de Chile in December 2019 and meant to bring together ministers, experts and activists from all over the world. In addition, I was entrusted to work out a concept to integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the institutes work procedures. Additional tasks included the public relations management of all Departments of the Goethe-Institute, compilation of project reports, lectures at the Goethe-Institute in Spanish and the independent organization of events. What comes to me as highlight was the development of a network for German and Chilean interns at German-speaking institutions in Santiago de Chile. As part of this project, I planned and organized visits to Chilean institutions that were intended to serve a double purpose: intercultural exchange and dialogue.

In June 2019, I graduated from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. I am beyond thankful that I was awarded the Deutschlandstipendium from September 2016 until March 2019. Since October 2019, I have been deepening existing knowledge, scientific expertise and networking capabilities through a Master's degree in International Relations at the FU Berlin, the HU of Berlin and the University of Potsdam.

Reflecting the last year as a scholarship holder, I noticed that many impressive and charming things happened to me. I am currently working as a lecturer at north Western University, Khulna, in Bangladesh, where I got a study leave for two years. When I was selected for the Deutschlandstipendium, I dreamt to finish my course quickly with glorious grades. The financial support allowed me to be very attentive towards my required study courses. I was really excited when I received the honourable certificate of this scholarship. To make this moment special, I dressed myself in the colours green and red - the national colours shown in Bangladesh's flag. I felt so proud when I got the formal certificate of this Deutschlandstipendium during a memorable dinner party.

The financial support helped me to finish the course perfectly and allowed me to join other curricular activities. My donor organization was really helpful for me and supported me to develop an optimistic outlook for my professional career with their valuable guidance and policies. Due to the financial funding of the previous two semesters, winter 2018 - summer 2019, I had been able to finish all my mandatory courses with my expected grades. Through this, I got several opportunities to research on sustainability topics correlating with my Master's degree.

Life is a journey where we need to accelerate ourselves to reach our final destination. My sponsor helped me to reach my desired destination with their financial support which let me focus on boosting up my career goal. During the period of funding, I had been able to learn about different software, take a German language course, and focus on my research paper. All of this was also very important for my career-building plan in Europe. I would like to thank my Mom (Mrs. Kaniz Fatema), Dad (Mr. Atiar Rahman), friends, relatives, teachers, colleagues for always supporting me.

First of all, I want to thank my university and my sponsor for giving me this precious opportunity. For me, it is the second consecutive time of being a part of Deutschlandstipendium, which has been a real honour.

As a foreign student, I had to face many challenges when I first came to Germany. But once I got used to the conditions, I started to think of Germany as my second home. You never know how many opportunities wait for you in the university as well as outside the university, till they meet you or you meet them. Deutschlandstipendium is one of them. If you are in the track, do not worry, they got your back. You just have to do your studies at your best. The financial support they provide throughout the scholarship period is a huge relief for us as students. Especially because of that, you feel free from being stressed. You will have more than enough time to engage in your studies, projects, presentations which will lead the way for success. When I first got my letter of acceptance of the scholarship, I was so happy and I got so motivated. I always told myself that "it is true that I got accepted as a scholarship receiver. But that does not mean I am fully eligible to receive their support unless I give my best at everything". And that led me to get selected again for this year, too.

Apart from the financial support, they provide a network that connects the private sectors and students. I really liked the concept of getting in touch with the companies. This will be a decisive factor for my future. My sponsor promised me to recommend some companies which are related to my field. I see this as a huge opportunity to start my internship and career. As I mentioned earlier, once you are in the track, they will guide you till you get success. I am really proud to be a part of this Deutschlandstipendium network and finally I would like to thank the university and all the private sponsors for providing this huge support for all of us.

I was very happy and grateful when I got to know that I was selected for being awarded with the Deutschlandstipendium for the second time and thereof would like to start off by thanking my sponsor and the University for the support - Thank you very much!

The financial aid by the Deutschlandstipendium encouraged me to spend a semester abroad at the Universidad Católica de Valencia in Spain.

Living and studying in Valencia helped me to increase my intercultural competences, language skills, self-confidence and independency. I met many interesting people and made friends with students from all over the world.

Due to the Deutschlandstipendium I was able to fully enjoy every moment of my semester abroad and to collect many great experiences without worrying much about financial issues.

However, I am not only thankful for the financial support by the Deutschlandstipendium but also for the non-financial support. Even though, unfortunately, I was not able to participate in many events organized by the Deutschlandstipendium because of the semester abroad, I like to look back to the scholarship dinner where I got in touch with the other scholarship holders and sponsors. It was a very interesting evening with many inspiring discussions.

All in all, I can look back at a very successful and exciting year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that arose due to the support by the Deutschlandstipendium.
