Design students of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences create the back wall of the Pappelsee panorama bath
The 100 square metres large back wall in the new Pappelsee panorama bath in Kamp-Lintfort is going to be a design drafted by the design student Saskia Ruehmkorf of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. The theme is playing with most different shades of blue: Closely watching bathers see a blue riot of colours in which – watched from a distance – several swimmers represent the fun of water sports.
Kleve/Emmerich/Kamp-Lintfort: Guests will look at an impressive back wall when the Pappelsee water fun park is going to open its new panorama bath in April 2012. Saskia Ruehmkorf persuaded the jury with a water theme in numerous shades of blue at which the watcher has another perception from close than from distant watching in a competition amongst the third semester students of the course of study "Information and Communication Design" at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. An optical stimulus makes sure that the watcher sees different shades of blue directly in front of the panorama wall. Once you get further away from the water theme people swimming become visible in shimmering shades of blue. The design student cannot only be happy to have made a sustainable contribution to the creation of the bath but also about prize money to the amount of Euro 600.
The draft submitted by her will take up the whole back wall of the swimming bath in the format of approximately 18 x 5.6 metres. Manufacturing data for the fabrication of the 18 x 5.6 metres large fabric covering will be adapted in terms of colour to the drafts of the architect Tanja Tachwaly of the architecture office of Dr Krieger in the coming weeks. The printed canvas cover is to be placed in the bath in February.
The Town of Kamp-Lintfort and the Pappelsee water fun park in collaboration with the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences advertised the competition for students on creating the 100 square metres large back wall of the Pappelsee panorama bath. All students of the third semester of the course of study "Information and Communication Design" of the Faculty "Communication and Environment" of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences could participate. The students were supervised by Prof Joerg Petri and Prof Christoph Zielke of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. The input of the students was presented and evaluated by a jury.
On 11 January 2012, the drafts of the winners were presented during the meeting of the Bath works council and subsequently the prizes were handed over to the students by Dr Christoph Muellmann, facility manager of the Pappelsee water fun park and first deputy of the Town of Kamp-Lintfort. Seven drafts of the about 20 participating students reached the final selection. The two second prizes of respectively Euro 200 in prize money were awarded to Sandra Becker and Fabien Heide.
