Visit to the “Rwanda Day 2016” at the University Koblenz-Landau

Prof. Dr. Oliver Serfling, Prof. Dr. Gregor van der Beek, and Lena Paßelewitz staff members of the faculty Society and Economics of Rhine-Waal University visited the “Rwanda Day” organised by the partnership Rhineland Palatinate / Rwanda on 25th June.

The annual event with this year’s theme “education, research and knowledge transfer for a sustainable partnership” took place on the campus of the University Koblenz-Landau.

Since 1982 Rhineland Palatinate and Rwanda maintain a constantly growing partnership which is international well known and deeply rooted in both regions. Various actors like municipalities, schools and universities are involved in this special cooperation and work together in several projects.

The prime minister of Rhineland Palatine Malu Dreyer, the ambassador of the Republic Rwanda Igor Cesar and the president of the association „Partnership Rhineland Palatine/Rwanda” Dr. Richard Auernheimer were invited to the event and participated in an interesting panel discussion about partnerships. Additionally the visitors could enjoy an interesting program consisting of several presentations, poster exhibitions and further talks about topics regarding Rwanda.

Together with the University Koblenz-Landau and other actors, the faculty of Society and Economics of the Rhine-Waal University is currently working on a project which is part of a program initiated by and funded through the German Federal Development Cooperation (GIZ). This project called “Research Cooperation with Rwanda in the field of applied macroeconomics” was presented to the audience in a one-hour presentation at the “Rwanda Day”.
