Apartment-hunting

Not only should your start at the university but also your apartment be great. Therefore, we have collected some information about apartment- hunting for you.

We strongly recommend that you make arrangements for accommodation in Kleve, Emmerich or Kamp-Lintfort before you arrive. Availability at the dormitories of the Studentenwerk is limited. You may apply for a room online:

Tips for apartment-hunters

Since the university is very new, the cities are not yet specialized for the students. Meaning, there are only a few existing apartments that can be shared by several people and many renters are not yet prepared for students. Therefore, it is often easier to rent a bigger apartment and search for apartment mates on the internet. The Official Group Hochschule Rhein-Waal (facebook) can be used for this purpose. If you already have found an apartment, you may make an announcement on wg-gesucht.de. Some renters require a parent to sign the rental agreement and to sublet it to other students. Many renters also lend their apartments to several students or they lend single rooms. If a student moves away during the semester without having a next tenant this option is surely safer. Some renters do also lend half-furnished rooms. Those are often a bit more expensive than unfurnished rooms, but they also do have their advantages. In the surrounding bigger cities there are sometimes furnished rooms that can be rented temporary and have a shorter cancellation period. But since you surely want to live for at least three and a half years close to the university, it is profitable to search for your proper apartment!

Kamp-Lintfort

Unfortunately, you cannot find all of the announcements in advertising journals online. On the homepage: www.stadt-panorama.de you can find both, offers of apartments and also you can make requests. You also can make requests at the "Stadtanzeiger (www.stadt-anzeiger.kamp-lintfort.de) and the "Lokalkompass" (www.lokalkompass.de) but the offers are not published online. Moreover, it is possible to search for appartments at www.wohnungsbau-stadt-moers.de. There are also special offers for apprentices and students: www.eigene-wohnung-moers.de. Also the "Grafschaft Moers" (www.grafschaft-moers.de) and the "THS Wohnen GmbH" (www.ths.de/Junge-Bude.527.0.html) offer some apartments.

Transport connection Kamp-Lintfort

Regrettably, Kamp-Lintfort does not have a train station. Because of that the apartment-hunting strongly depends on the transport connection. Since you have a NRW-ticket, the use of busses and regional trains is the most appropriate option. The cities and city areas that are mentioned below are very well connected to bus stops and train stations. But you should always pay attention to the bus timetables. Therefore, you can use bahn.de. Click on "Weitere Suchoptionen" and type in the adress of the apartment. The adress of the university is Südstraße 8. The bus stops "Hochschule Rhein-Waal" and "Am Hornbusch" are reachable by foot. The bus stop "Neues Rathaus" is located in the city center of Kamp-Lintfort and serves on intermediary stop most of the time. The fastest bus lines are SB30 and 911. An apartment nearby the route of the SB30 would be a great advantage although the distance might be a bit bigger. But also the motorway access is very good! The motorways A57 and A42 can be reached easily. It takes only 10 minutes from the university to Moers by car!
