Program discription pdf
During the course, students learn methods, applications and models of Economics, Finance and analysis of international financial markets as well as related topics. The course of study has a strong interdisciplinary orientation and therefore graduates are able to analyse problems referring to national and international competitive and financial markets from the economic and the legal and institutional perspective. The research methodology taught and independently applied by the students includes game theoretical experiments, behavioural economic analysis and empirical market analysis. Macroeconomic or social issues are firmly tied to Law and Economics courses. So students are, for example, confronted with conflicts between profit maximising behaviour and in view of macroeconomy possible negative impacts on industrial and competitive economics as well as on competition law subjects. Analysis of macroeconomic impacts of corporate initiatives on merchandise markets as well as also on financial markets makes students aware of the necessity of ethical or value-oriented behaviour. Furthermore, students acquire near-native fluent command of English including relevant technical terms during all courses since it is a course of study exclusively taught in English. The postgraduate course builds up on the fundamentals of an (undergraduate) Economics degree course as consecutive course of study and serves to broaden and consolidate knowledge with a specialisation in the fields of Finance and Economics.
Structure of the course.
The Postgraduate course is completed after three semesters. In preparation for this, a seminar based on the topic of "Competition Policy" takes place.
