Program description pdf

The increasing importance of the tourism sector, an ageing society with new needs as well as a tendency to more sustainability are about to change the demands on tourism. The tourism sector has been reacting to this change of demand by a bigger offer of customised travels. Furthermore, travellers are attaching ever more importance to ecological, sanitary or social aspects. These alternative points of view are of paramount importance in the course of studies. Another key aspect is the identification of needs and wishes of the customer, for example, by means of analysis of trends in the tourism sector. During the course students are introduced - besides classical tourism management (price and capacity management, business management, quality management, business studies and controlling) - to specific fields like behavioural economics and tourism policy. Hence the following contents, amongst others, arise:•    sustainability in tourism•    inclusion in tourism•    development politics and tourism•    consumer behaviour on the tourism market placeAll courses of study refer to internationality and depend, besides economical orientation modules of Politics and Social Sciences, on the specialisation chosen. The basis are substantial methods and fundamentals of Economics. Hands-on teaching is equally essential besides acquiring important theoretical knowledge. That is what distinguishes the graduates and qualifies them for the job market and/or a postgraduate course!

Structure of the course.

The main focus is on business issues and topics of the tourism industry. However, graduates are supposed to possess diverse quality characteristics of technical as well as social nature. The course of study has a strong interdisciplinary orientation in order to meet these quality objectives.
In total, the course of study includes seven semesters of standard study duration. In the first three semesters, basic knowledge is taught. Subsequently follows the consolidation of knowledge in the fourth and fifth semester. Likewise, here the focus is set on compulsory optional modules and thus on the formation of a profile. In the sixth semester follows practical semester work or a semester abroad. In the seventh and thus last semester, the undergraduate thesis is written. Here we also attach importance to practical relevance and support the cooperation with the private sector. Necessary skills to write a final thesis are in addition provided in block courses. The course will finally be completed with a colloquium!
